Dr Jonas Fernandez

Dr Jonas Fernandez performing a shoulder arthroscopic surgery

My
Story

Residing in the bustling and vibrant city that is Kuala Lumpur, Dr Jonas Fernandez main practice is in the Klang valley region. Being a former Malaysian Athlete himself, passion for sports has always been a way of life and a calling. Dr Jonas prides himself as not only an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in sports injuries around the knee and shoulder, but also as someone who understands what it's like to actually be the patient.

Having experienced himself what it feels like to have broken his leg (twice) and what it's like to go under the knife for ACL reconstruction, these life lessons have given him invaluable insight to a patient's perspective. Not only is he the treating surgeon but more importantly also knows what it's like to be the athlete and the patient as well.

He is as much a local bred Malaysian as he is well travelled and cultured. Prove of this can be seen in the fact that he's multilinguistic as he speaks 5 different languages, namely Bahasa Malaysia, English, Tamil, Russian and Korean.

The Logo

A symbol of orthopaedic, the tree is commonly referred to as the "Tree of Andry". In its original description, the crooked tree is held straight with the help of a stick. This is to symbolise the deformity correction which is akin to that seen in orthopaedic surgery.

The "stick" used in this logo is in the shape of an arthroscopic sleeve and a crutch. The arthroscopic sleeve is a surgical instrument used in arthroscopic "key hole" surgery, whereas a crutch is used to assist patient with ambulation.

Lastly, The tree and the crutch/arthroscopic crutch are shaped in the letters J and F, representing the initials of Dr Jonas Fernandez.
